inp.polri.go.id - Mimika Resort Police have uncovered the murder case of four civilians that occurred in SP 1 Mimika Baru District, Mimika Regency, on Monday (22/8), at around 22.00 WIT.
The Head of Public Relations of Cartenz Peace Ops, who is also the Head of Public Relations of the Papua Police, Commissioner Ahmad Musthofa Kamal said the case was successfully revealed after members conducted an investigation around the crime scene and checked the CCTV. From the investigation, the members knew the identity of the perpetrator.
"From the results of the investigation, the members managed to identify the perpetrators of the murder, namely the initials APL alias J, DU, RL, RMH (DPO) and six members of the Indonesian National Army (TNI)," said Kamal when confirmed, Sunday (28/8).
It is said that the perpetrators of APL and DU had been arrested on Saturday (27/8) at different locations. Meanwhile, RL were arrested on Sunday, August 28, 2022 at around 10:00 WIT. Currently, the perpetrators have been detained by members of the Mimika Police Station and the TNI members have been handled by the Military Police.
"The APL alias J was arrested on Saturday (27/8) at around 16:29 WIT while the DU was arrested at 17:00 WIT at the fitness center on Ahmad Yani Street, Timika. The police are currently pursuing another perpetrator with the initials RMH who has been assigned in the wanted list by the Mimika Police," said Kasatgas.
Kombes Kamal continued to explain the chronology of the incident on Tuesday (22/8) at around 21:50 WIT in SP 1 Mimika Baru District, Mimika Regency, by the nine perpetrators who killed the four civilians.
After murdering the four civilians, the perpetrators took the victims to the Pigapu River to be disposed in sacks.
It was further explained, before being disposed of, the four victims were all mutilated and their limbs were placed in six different sacks and thrown into the Pigapu River.
"After dumping the victims into the Pigapu River, the perpetrators headed to the Galian C Road Iwaka River to burn the Toyota Calya car rented by the victim," he said.
Then on Tuesday (23/8) at 07:30 WIT, after receiving a report from the members, the authorities went straight to the entrance of the Iwaka river C excavation (about 60 meters from the bridge) and when they arrived at the scene, they found one unit of a red Toyota Astra calya car without a license plate. with the frame number MHKA6GJ6JKJ115394 which had been charred and still emitting smoke from the remnants of the fire.
Furthermore, on Friday (26/8) at around 13:40 WIT, police officers managed to found the victim, Arnold Lokbere, at Pigapu River. And at around 18:55 WIT at SP 1 Mimika, one unit of black Avansa car was found with police number N 1082 WR which was rented by victim Arnold Lokbere and three other victims.
The four victims were Arnold Lokbere, Irian Nirigi, Leman Nirigi, and Atis Tini. From the results of the investigation, it is known that one of the victims. Leman Nirigi is follower of Nduga Armed Criminal Group which led by Egianus Kogoya, and Leman actively looking for weapons and ammunition in Mimika Regency.
The Head of the Public Relations Task Force added that initially the victim wanted to buy a firearm from the perpetrators, then the perpetrators prepared an object resembling a firearm to convince the victim.
"For the actions of the perpetrators, they are charged with criminal acts of murder and or theft with violence, as referred to in primary article 340 of the Criminal Code, subsidiary article 338 of the Criminal Code Jo. Article 55, 56 of the Criminal Code and or Article 365 of the Criminal Code," said Commissioner Ahmad.
Currently, the joint team has conducted a search for the victims and. The Forensic Laboratory of Papua Police also conducted autopsies and DNA tests on the victims to determine the identity of the victims.
