Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Ministry of Communication and Informatics has outlined two steps to address the circulation of hoaxes related to the 2024 General Elections in the digital space. "The Ministry of Communication and Informatics is continuously working to address election-related hoaxes through counter-narrative efforts and take-downs or the disruption of access to hoax content," said Minister Budi Arie Setiadi on Tuesday (9/1/2024). Highlighting the significance of counter-narrative efforts, he emphasized their focus on addressing hoaxes that could sow concern and potentially disrupt societal harmony. He provided a concrete example, citing the counteraction of misinformation surrounding alleged Chinese citizens' Identity Cards intended for election participation. Minister Budi Arie explained that the counter-narrative process involves meticulous validation and labeling of information as a hoax by the Ministry. This identified misinformation is then systematically disseminated through official channels, including social media and the ministry's website. The second step in this strategy, he added, involves disrupting access to hoax content, including collaboration with social media platforms to curtail the spread of misleading information.
