inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Indonesian Minister of Religious Affairs, Nasaruddin Umar, visited the Vatican Embassy in Jakarta to express his deep sorrow and condolences for the death of Pope Francis. In his statement, he called the Pope a figure who cared about humanity.
"We, the Ministry of Religious Affairs, came here to the Vatican Embassy for Indonesia to express our sympathy and condolences," he said, as reported by RRI, on Tuesday (5/22/2025).
Minister Nasaruddin Umar said that Pope Francis was very concerned about marginalized and oppressed groups, including children, the elderly, and marginalized people.
He said that Pope Francis not only cares for the Catholics, but also for all humanity, regardless of religion.
For him, the Pope's humanitarian achievements deserve to be appreciated by everyone, regardless of religions and ethnicities.
