inp.polri.go.id - Bandung. The West Java Regional Police said they had not received a report on the alleged exploitation and extortion case against circus workers who were said to be affiliated with Taman Safari Bogor.

The Director of Criminal Investigation of the West Java Regional Police, Senior Superintendent Surawan, assessed that the legal process for the case was out of date because the alleged exploitation and extortion occurred in the 1970s.

"Regarding the report, we still have not received any of it yet. Relating on the incident, that was occurred back in the 70s. To be frank,  if (you want to) prosecute it, it is actually already out of date," he explained, on Tuesday (4/22/2025).

On this occasion, he added that the alleged exploitation and extortion case against Taman Safari employees in Bogor had also been mediated by the Human Rights National Commission.

"At that time the Human Rights National Commission had taken care of the case. One of the points, resolved amicably," he explained.

It is worth to mention that previously a number of former OCI circus workers at Taman Safari Indonesia (TSI) reported alleged exploitation to the Ministry of Human Rights (HAM).
The complaint was received directly by the Vice Minister of Human Rights, Mugiyanto, at his office, on Tuesday (4/15/2025).

In the hearing, former workers said that acts of violence and exploitation of children had occurred since the 1970s by the owners of OCI and Taman Safari Indonesia.

OCI founder and Taman Safari Indonesia Commissioner, Tony Sumampau, suspects that there is an actor or provocateur behind the allegations. He also admitted that he will take legal action against the allegations.
