Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Election Coordination Desk for the 2024 Elections at the Ministry of Political, Legal, and Security Affairs has identified 10 vulnerabilities in the electoral process that demand attention and could potentially disrupt the proceedings. Speaking at a coordination meeting titled "Maintaining Political, Legal, and Security Stability in the 2024 Election Stages" in Central Jakarta on Tuesday (21/11/23), Heri Wiranto, the Deputy of Domestic Affairs Political Coordination at the Ministry, highlighted the first issue related to weather. "In February, as we approach the peak of the rainy season, heavy rainfall is likely, impacting the execution of activities. This needs collective anticipation," he said. The second vulnerability concerns the preparedness of security personnel in various regions, considering the comprehensive nature of the elections. "The third involves social conflicts and the destruction of election facilities. Instances of this have already occurred in some areas and need to be anticipated, especially with the approach of the election day on February 14," he said. Addressing the fourth issue, Heri noted security disruption by armed criminal groups (KKB) in several regions in Papua. The fifth concern revolves around the threat of cyber attacks on the information technology systems of election organizers. The sixth considerations include potential natural and non-natural disasters. The seventh focal point is health disruptions for election organizers and health issues for election officers. The eighth issue pertains to the neutrality of government apparatus and election organizers. The ninth issue is the implementation of elections abroad. "We have held several meetings with overseas election committees, including election supervisors abroad. Numerous issues have become focal points for organizers there," shared Heri. The tenth matter requiring attention relates to potential issues in the distribution of election logistics, both domestically and internationally. "We must take anticipatory steps early on, ensuring the implementation of measures to anticipate unforeseen events. We have taken initial steps to prepare for such situations," he concluded.
