The Constitutional Court (MK) aims to finish the dispute over the 2024 presidential election in 14 working days. “MK in factuality states that we will have to give our decision in 14 working days. We will do our best to meet the due date,” said MK Chairperson Suhartoyo on Thursday (3/7/2024). Suhartoyo says that the 14 working days due is actually too short for them to rule the Dispute over General Election Results (PHPU) for President and Vice President as there are many witnesses they have to examine. This, is almost the same as the 2019 as they are only able to examine 15 witnesses for PHPU. Suhartoyo emphasized that every argument put forward by the applicant must be proven. Likewise, every witness must have their statements examined. “And now there are 1,000 arguments, and can you imagine how could we examine those? Regulation states that we have to ensure every argument put forward is proven,” said Suhartoyo. However it may be, Article 50 of MK Regulation Number 4 of 2023 regarding Procedures in Presidential and Vice Presidential PHPU Cases states that the case must be ruled at most for 14 working days.
