Inp.polri.go.id - Ambon. The Manusela National Park Authority has temporarily closed Mount Binaiya in Central Maluku, following the disappearance of a hiker on the Nasapeha trail.
“This decision was made to ensure the safety and comfort of other visitors while search efforts continue,” said Acting Head of the Park, Seto Purwanto, on Tuesday (29/4/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com.
Prospective hikers are advised to delay their trips and rely on official updates to avoid misinformation.
The closure, effective from 29 April to 11 May 2025, was imposed after the hiker, identified as Firdaus Ahmad Fauji (27), was reported missing on Saturday, having become separated from his group during their ascent.
A joint team comprising forest rangers, the local National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas), local residents, and volunteers is conducting search operations in the area.
Mount Binaiya, towering at 3,027 meters, is Maluku's highest point and known for its rugged beauty and unique biodiversity.
