inp.polri.go.id - Riau. Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs Budi Gunawan ensured that thuggery under the guise of community organizations must be dealt with firmly by all law enforcement agencies.
"The President has gathered all ministries and institutions related to law enforcement such as the police, military, prosecutors, and others. The direction is clear, the state must be present, must be able to protect its people, the law must be enforced," said Budi Gunawan at Roesmin Nurjadin Air Force Base, Riau, quoted by Antaranews on Tuesday (4/29/2025).
According to Budi, law enforcers must not lose to these thug groups because they often carry out activities that are detrimental to society, ranging from levies to extortion.
The authorities must take firm action, especially when the thuggery has disrupted business activities that could threaten the existence of foreign investors in Indonesia.
Budi said that his party had held a meeting with the Indonesian National Police (INP) to discuss handling the thuggery.
The result of the meeting was that INP moved quickly to take action against various thuggery cases in the regions.
"The INP Chief has also spoken and there have been steps. For example, in Karawang, Subang, Bekasi, and several other places, all have been handled," said Budi.
Budi also warned law enforcement officers not to get involved or support thuggery under the guise of mass organizations.
"Yes, if it is proven that there are several officers involved, which must be processed legally," said Budi Gunawan firmly in his closing statement.
