Inp.polri.go.id - Kupang. The Mount Ile Lewotolok in Lembata Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), experienced another eruption, with the ash column reaching approximately 400 meters at the summit, as reported by the volcano monitoring post on Tuesday (14/11/23) morning.
Stanis Ara Kian, officer at the Mount Ile Lewotolok Monitoring Post, said that the eruption occurred at 5.27 am, producing gray to black volcanic ash with a thick intensity, drifting towards the northwest. This recent eruption follows another on Monday (13/11/23) at 4.33 pm, where the ash column reached approximately 500 meters at the peak.
The volcano is currently at level II or alert status. As a precautionary measure, the monitoring post has advised the local community, visitors, climbers, and tourists to avoid entering or participating in activities within a two-kilometer radius of the volcano's activity center.
