Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. The Acting Head of the Geology Agency Muhammad Wafid urged local residents and tourists to keep a distance within a 2-kilometer radius of the crater of Mount Slamet, Central Java following its increasing volcanic activities.
"In accordance with the Level II alert status, individuals and tourists are strongly advised to refrain from engaging in any activities within a 2-kilometer radius from Mount Slamet's summit," he said inJakarta on Thursday (19/10/23).
This precautionary measure followed the official status of Mount Slamet's level from Level I (normal) to Level II (alert) at 8 am on Thursday.
Wafid said that the Center for Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation (PVMBG) would maintain rigorous monitoring efforts to evaluate Mount Slamet's volcanic activity.
We urge the public to follow the instructions of the Central Java Provincial Regional Agency for Disaster Countermeasure (BPBD) and the district BPBDs," he asserted.
For the latest updates on Mount Slamet's status and recommended measures to be taken, both the public and authorities can perform regular monitoring through the Magma Indonesia application or visit the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) website.
