inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Vice Chairman of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR) Eddy Soeparno met with the Mayor of South Tangerang Benyamin Davnie in order to facilitate the efforts of regional heads to overcome the waste problem.

This meeting is a continuation of a series of meetings between Eddy Soeparno and several regional heads to overcome the waste problem.

"The threat of a waste emergency requires collaboration from all parties, the central government, regions and also all other stakeholders. My commitment as the Leader of the MPR is to facilitate relations between regions and the center to accelerate waste management," said Eddy in his statement in Jakarta, quoted by Antaranews on Friday (5/16/2025).

Previously, Eddy had visited the Benowo Surabaya Waste Power Plant (PLTSa) and then met with the Mayor of Bandung Muhammad Farhan on May 1, 2025, on the same agenda.

He explained that one of his efforts was to encourage the development of PLTSa that turns waste into energy.

"Waste to Energy technology has been implemented in PLTSa Benowo Surabaya, PLTSa Putri Cempo Solo and PLTSa in Palembang City. Now South Tangerang has also completed the auction process for the development of Waste Management into Electrical Energy (PSEL) at the Cipeucang TPA," noted Eddy.

He said that waste to energy technology can provide two benefits at once, the first is to significantly reduce the pile of waste that cannot be accommodated in the TPA and produce renewable energy sources.

Specifically, Eddy expressed his commitment to support the development of South Tangerang PSEL and is ready to help smooth the process from groundbreaking to full operation in 2027.

"I conveyed to the Mayor that we in the MPR are ready to help if there are obstacles faced in the development of PSEL," he said.
