inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Vice Chairman of the People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) Edhie Baskoro Yudhoyono, or famously called Ibas, emphasized the importance of trade cooperation between the Indonesian government and other countries, one of which is Singapore, in order to improve the country's economy.

This was conveyed by Ibas when discussing directly with the Singapore International Chamber of Commerce (SICC), the oldest and independent chamber of commerce in Singapore.

"We await your visit and we hope that there can be a lot of collaboration, cooperation, investment, and trade programs between Indonesia and Singapore," he said in an official statement in Jakarta, Sunday (4/27/2025).

Ibas also emphasized Indonesia's commitment to welcoming business cooperation with Singapore, both through trade and investment.

"We just want you to know that we Indonesians can be trusted, our country is safe, and we continue to strive to improve the credibility and fairness of law enforcement, including regulations and permits that are pro-business so that there is no fear and confidence to invest in Indonesia," he said.

Meanwhile, Second Deputy Chairman of the SICC Board, Wong Joo Seng, welcomed what Ibas said. According to him, in terms of stability and predictability, Indonesia has shown significant progress.

However, his party hopes for a more investor-friendly policy with a clearer legal and requirement structure to make it easier for Singaporean companies to plan investments in Indonesia.

"Indonesia has many things that Singapore needs, especially in terms of abundant labor and a rapidly growing market," Ibas concluded.
