inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Deputy Chairman of Commission III of the Indonesian House of Representatives Ahmad Sahroni said that the state must be sensitive to the people's problems regarding the existence of land mafias that often cause losses.
He said that there was a case of land mafia experienced by an illiterate elderly person named Mbah Tupon (68) in Bantul, Yogyakarta. The case experienced by Mbah Tupon, he said, was one of the many victims of land mafia that occurred in Indonesia.
"The state must be sensitive to things like this. On the one hand, it must educate the public, on the other hand, it must be firm against land mafias," said Sahroni in a written statement received in Jakarta, quoted by Antaranews on Monday (4/28/2025).
Based on police information, he explained that 1,655 square meters of land belonging to Tupon was allegedly seized by the land mafia after the certificate was changed and pledged to a bank for IDR 1.5 billion without the victim's knowledge.
The case, he said, was reported on April 14, 2025 and is still under investigation by the police.
He also asked the police and the Ministry of Agrarian Affairs and Spatial Planning to pay full attention to the case, because the people's land must not be stolen by the land mafia.
The authorities, he said, should not be complicated in handling the land mafia problem that is detrimental to the people. According to him, handling the case must use conscience and attentiveness in an attempt to return the land to its rightful owner.
“But I am sure the police can resolve this case quickly,” concluded Sahroni.
