inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. President Prabowo Subianto stated that the national rice reserves managed by the State Logistics Agency (Bulog) currently stand at 3 million tons, surpassing the historic achievement of food self-sufficiency during the era of Indonesia's second president, Soeharto.

He expressed his pride that these rice reserves surpassed the record high of 2 million tons.

"I am also quite elated and proud that today our rice reserves in Indonesian government warehouses are the highest in the history of the Republic of Indonesia, even during the administration of President Soeharto," President Prabowo highlighted on Tuesday (1/6/2026).

By the end of 2025, President Prabowo stated that the four-year self-sufficiency target could be achieved within the first year of his presidency.

He noted that the highest national rice reserves ever managed by the state were 2 million tons.

"Today, our rice reserves in government warehouses exceed 3 million tons, the highest in the history of the Republic of Indonesia. I believe this is the result of the hard work of all our colleagues," explained President Prabowo.

In his remarks, President Prabowo also emphasized that no nation can be independent if it cannot guarantee food for its people.

He also wants self-sufficiency not only in rice, but also in other carbohydrates, such as corn and cassava, as well as protein.
