inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Coordinating Minister for Food Zulkifli Hasan revealed that the national rice stock is projected to reach its highest amount in the last five years.

Coordinating Minister Zulkifli explained that the rice stock at the end of December 2024 is estimated to reach more than 8 million tons, consisting of around 1.95 million tons in Bulog and more than 6 million tons in the community.

"There is good news. Our rice at the end of December will be recorded as the highest stock in the last 5 years," said Coordinating Minister Zulkifli, Tuesday (11/26/24).

In addition, Coordinating Minister Zulkifli also said that national rice production in 2025 is projected to reach 32 million tons.

He said that this achievement shows better management of rice stocks to support national food security.

"Hopefully imports next year will not be as much as in 2024. Even if there are imports, they will be small," said Coordinating Minister Zulkifli.

In the past five years, Indonesia's national rice stock has shown a fluctuating trend, influenced by harvest results, consumption, and food management policies.

Based on data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) and government reports, rice stocks at the end of 2019 were recorded at around 4 million tons. In 2020 and 2021, there was a surplus of 1.33 million tons, after consumption needs were met.

In 2022, it showed a significant increase, with final stocks reaching 6.05 million tons. This spike was supported by national production of 31.68 million tons, as well as optimal harvest performance.

Only in 2023 and 2024 did Indonesia's rice stock stabilize at its highest figure, which was more than 8 million tons.
