Inp.polri.go.id - Mataram. Inspector General Asep Edi Suheri, the Chief of the National Cooling System (NCS) Operations, has urged local police chiefs in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) to effectively manage potential conflicts during the 2024 regional elections.

"Police chiefs must handle potential conflicts effectively. It's pointless to solve cases if you can't detect and manage conflicts," he said in a briefing, at the NTB Police Headquarters on Thursday (25/7/2024).

Chief Asep highlighted the various challenges of the elections, including fake news, sectarian issues, propaganda, and hate speech, which can threaten national unity. To address these challenges, he emphasized the need for a "cooling system" to ensure a safe, peaceful, and orderly election process, according to antaranews.com.

Chief Asep recommended establishing a local task force similar to the "Sejuk Seulawah" team from Aceh to improve conflict management. He also stressed the importance of preemptive and preventive efforts, encouraging collaboration among all units.

NTB Police Chief Inspector General Raden Umar Faroq thanked the NCS team’s support and urged all officers to share the commitment to a successful and secure election.
