Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta.  State-owned energy firm PT Pertamina Patra Niaga confirmed it has not received any fuel purchase requests from private gas stations such as Shell or BP, despite ongoing shortages since mid-August.

“We have not received any requests from private gas stations,” said PT Pertamina Patra Niaga Corporate Secretary Roberth Marcelino Verieza Dumatubun on Wednesday (17/9/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com. 

He also denied speculation that PT Pertamina Patra Niaga had already supplied Shell fuel under a business-to-business scheme.

The shortage has forced Shell stations in Jakarta to intermittently sell and withdraw Shell Super. As of Wednesday, only 16 Shell stations in the capital offered the fuel, down from 50 on 7 September 2025.

Minister of Energy Bahlil Lahadalia previously advised private operators to purchase fuel from PT Pertamina Patra Niaga, noting that the government has granted them a 10 percent import quota increase. He suggested collaboration is essential to secure fuel supply, which remains a vital necessity under state control.
