Inp.polri.go.id - Timika. The Mimika Sub-regional Police in Central Papua are investigating the attack on Pomako Port Police office after around 100 residents from Asmat village stormed and vandalized the station on Thursday, following a fatal traffic accident.
“The Pomako police office was left in ruins, windows, doors, chairs, water tanks, even furniture were destroyed with axes. Fortunately, no officers were injured, but suspects behind the vandalism have not yet been arrested,” Mimika Police Chief Superintendent Billyandha Hildiario Budiman said Sunday (21/9/2025), as quoted by antaranews.com.
The violence broke out when a truck from Timika fatally struck a villager. The driver fled to the police station for safety, but an angry mob arrived demanding police hand him over. Armed with machetes, axes, bows, arrows, and stones, they attacked the police office.
