Inp.polri.go.id - Surabaya. As the FIFA U-17 World Cup kicks off at the Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium in Surabaya, the Indonesian National Police (INP) has decided not to close road in the vicinity.
Road closures, if any, will be situation-dependent, and the police advise citizens against arranging convoys, East Java Regional Police Chief Inspector General Imam Sugianto said onĀ Wednesday (8/11/2023).
As part of the security preparations for the U-17 World Cup at GBT, INP has been implementing a Tactical Floor Game, which involves informing all police personnel about simulated field security measures for match days.
Chief Imam explained that the tactical floor game aims to ensure that on-ground officers are well-prepared and knowledgeable about handling potential challenges during the event.
"Tomorrow, there will be a parade led directly by the INP Chief of the Criminal Investigation Agency Commissioner General Wahyu Widada," he said.
Chief Imam said managingĀ traffic congestion is a key concern, especially since the stadium has only two lanes.
The East Java Police Traffic Director Senior Superintendent Komarudin said that the police will implement traffic engineering if necessary.
"We suggest spectators to use shuttle buses provided by the local administration, reducing pressure on limited parking around the stadium," he said.
