Coordinating Minister for Law, Human Rights, Immigration, and Corrections Yusril Ihza Mahendra said on Monday (5/5/2025) that there is currently no urgency for President Prabowo Subianto to issue a government regulation in lieu of law, locally known as Perppu, on asset seizure.

“There is no compelling reason to issue a Perppu at this time,” he said at the Presidential Palace complex, as quoted by antaranews.com.

The Minister explained that a Perppu should only be issued under pressing emergency conditions. According to him, existing laws—such as the Anti-Corruption Law and the authority of law enforcement agencies including the police, prosecution service, and KPK—are effective in addressing asset seizure matters.

Minister Yusril confirmed that the Asset Seizure Bill is already included in the 2024–2029 national legislative program. The government awaits confirmation from the House of Representatives (DPR) to begin formal deliberations.

President Prabowo has voiced support for expediting the bill as part of his administration’s anti-corruption agenda.
