North Sumatra Police Dispose of WWII Grenades

Inp.polri.go.id - Medan.  North Sumatra Regional Police disposed of two active grenades believed to be relics from World War II, found in the Padang River, Tebing Tinggi District, Serdang Bedagai Regency, North Sumatra on Tuesday (12/3/2024). "The active grenades have been safely destroyed by the North Sumatra Police's Brimob Unit," said Senior Inspector Agus Arianto, the Head of Public Relations Unit at the Tebing Tinggi Sub-regional Police, as reported by antaranews.com He explained that the grenades, of MK type, were discovered by children bathing and fishing in the Padang River on Monday afternoon. "After finding the grenades, the children placed them in a bucket of water and brought them to a resident's house," Chief Agus said. Upon learning of the discovery, the parents notified the police. Officers from the Tebing Tinggi Police Office and Tebing Tinggi Sub-regional Police secured the area, coordinating with the North Sumatra Police Mobile Brigade  (Brimob) Unit. "At around 5:10 PM, the Brimob Bomb Squad arrived and safely evacuated the grenades for disposal at the Golf Field of Pabatu Hamlet II, Penonggol Village," he added. (mg/inp/pr/nm)
