Inp.polri.go.id - Medan. The Narcotics Directorate of North Sumatra Regional Police successfully foiled an attempt to smuggle 113 kilograms of methamphetamine allegedly linked to an international network from Malaysia.

The operation was announced on Saturday (6/6/2026), following a high-speed chase of a vehicle transporting the drugs from Langkat Regency toward Aceh.

“Our team is continuing to track the suspect and expand the investigation to dismantle the entire network,” said Director of Narcotics Senior Superintendent Andy Arisandi

He explained that intelligence reports identified a Toyota Innova suspected of carrying narcotics. Officers pursued the vehicle for over an hour until it crashed into a ditch in East Aceh. The driver managed to escape, but police secured the cargo.

The seized drugs were packaged in Chinese tea bags, weighing a total of 113 kilograms. Additional items found included identification cards, a driver’s license, a mobile phone, and vehicle documents, all of which are being analyzed to uncover the network behind the smuggling.

Preliminary investigations suggest the meth was smuggled from Malaysia through coastal areas of North Sumatra before being transported to Aceh for distribution.
