Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. A video circulating on Facebook falsely alleged that the Ministry of Religious Affair said zakat, a mandatory charitable contribution in Islam, and infak funds, a voluntary contributions, are managed by the government to prevent believers from going to hell.

This claim has been confirmed as a hoax. 

According to Kompas.com, Ministry spokesperson Thobib Al Asyhar clarified on Friday (5/6/2026), that the information is not true.

The Ministry said that zakat management is conducted professionally, transparently, and accountably through official institutions such as the National Zakat Agency (Baznas) and authorized Amil Zakat Organizations (LAZ). These institutions are regularly audited to ensure proper governance.

The public is urged to verify information before sharing and rely on official sources to avoid spreading misinformation.
