Inp.polri.go.id – Jakarta. The Human Trafficking (TPPO) Task Force of West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Regional Police have successfully uncovers 31 cases since it was founded last July. From dozen cases, police have identified 50 suspects. “Most of their documents have been accepted by the prosecutor,” says member of TPPO Task Force of NTB Police, Police Grand Commissioner Adjutant Ni Made Pujawati quoted from lombokpost.jawapos on Tuesday (10/3/2023). Police stated that they have secured 210 victims from the dozen cases which all of them are from NTB. “170 of them are men, and 40 others are women, with 29 men and 21 women as suspects,” she adds. On this case, the suspect reportedly asked for money from Indonesian Migrant Workers (PMI) applicant. Although the applicant has paid the money, they are not being sent to the designated countries promised by the suspects. “What surprised us is that there are companies who has the permit that still tries to send their applicant illegally,” said the police. It was reported that the official companies also did not extent their permit and caused their applicant to be deserted. “There is an increase in human trafficking case for this year that we have uncover, with our focus in preventive measures,” said Pujawati. Pujawati suspects that the increase of case in human trafficking in NTB is rooted deeply to social economy problems. In one hand, people are forced to be PMI due to their economic needs and on the other hands those who works abroad are feeling the pride for working outside. (ad/ek/pr/nm)
