Inp.polri.go.id - Semarang. A massive fire broke out at a community-owned oil well in Blora, Central Java, killing one person and leaving four others severely injured on Sunday afternoon (18/8/2025).
“According to ER records, one person died while four residents suffered burns covering 70–90 percent of their bodies. The injured are now being referred for further treatment,” said Dr. Farida Laela, the Head of Services at Blora Regional Hospital, as reported by antaranews.com.
Police said the fire started around 12.51 pm after a blowout triggered a huge burst of flames that engulfed the drilling site in Gandu Village, Bogorejo District.
“The blaze quickly spread across the oil field. Residents panicked and fled for safety,” said Blora Police Head of Public Relations Assistant Senior Inspector Gembong Widodo.
Five fire trucks have been deployed to the scene, but the fire was still burning as of Sunday evening. Authorities have sealed the site and launched an investigation into the illegal oil drilling operation.
