On the Run Since April, Wanted Man Neutralized by the Authority in Yahukimo

inp.polri.go.id - Dekai. The 2026 Damai Cartenz Operation Task Force, conducted law enforcement action against a member of the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) identified as AP alias Y alias AS. 

The chase took place on Poros Logpon KM 7 street, Dekai District, Yahukimo Regency, Papua Mountains, on Wednesday (6/17/2026).

AP is known to be on the Wanted Persons List (DPO) and is suspected of involvement in several acts of armed violence in Yahukimo Regency.

Police reports that AP is involved in the shooting of Alexander Angket and Naldy Magosa on April 28, 2026. In the incident, Alexander suffered a gunshot wound to the right shoulder, while Naldy suffered a gunshot wound to the left thigh. Both victims received medical treatment and survived.

Furthermore, AP is also suspected of involvement in the shooting of Suhardin in the Ruko Blok A area of ​​Dekai on April 30, 2026.

The Head of the Public Relations Task Force for the 2026 Damai Cartenz Operation, Senior Superintendent Yusuf Sutejo, explained that before pursuing the target, the joint team first conducted a search of a house suspected of being the KKB headquarters behind the Metanoia Church in Dekai City.

"From the search, officers seized one round of 5.56 mm caliber ammunition, several sharp weapons, bows and arrows, cell phones, and various equipment suspected of being related to the armed group's activities. In addition, officers also detained a man with the initials HS (28) for further questioning regarding the group's network and activities," Yusuf told the media on Thursday (6/18/2026).

Based on initial investigation results, HS admitted to possessing ammunition suspected to have come from a KKB member with the initials AK. This information is now part of the ongoing investigation to uncover the armed group's network operating in the Yahukimo area.

After conducting a search, the team heard that AP is in the Kilo 6 Post area, Dekai District. During surveillance, the target was seen riding a motorcycle along Logpon street.

"When officers attempted to stop him, AP jumped from his motorcycle and fled into the forest. Officers then pursued him and fired two warning shots in accordance with established procedures," he explained.

However, AP continued to flee, prompting officers to take firm and measured action in accordance with police procedures. During the operation, AP was pronounced dead and was subsequently evacuated to Dekai Regional Hospital for further treatment.

At the scene of the operation, officers secured several pieces of evidence, including five rounds of 5.56 mm ammunition, a phone, and a motorcycle used by the target.

The Head of the 2026 Damai Cartenz Operation, Inspector General Faizal Ramadhani, emphasized that this action was part of law enforcement efforts against perpetrators of armed violence who have been threatening public safety.

"This operation is part of our commitment to enforcing the law against any perpetrators of violent crimes that disrupt public security in Papua. The authorities will continue to act professionally and in accordance with procedures to maintain security stability and protect the public from various armed criminal acts," said Faizal.
