inp.polri.go.id - Yogyakarta. The Yogyakarta Regional Police recorded a significant decrease in traffic violations during the 2026 Progo Safety Operation, held from February 2 to 15.
The Head of Public Relations of the Yogyakarta Regional Police explained that this decrease was evident in the 67 percent decrease in ticketing data, from 2,507 violations in 2025 to 836 violations this year.
"The success in reducing this violation rate reflects the effectiveness of personnel in the field and increased public compliance," he said.
In addition to ticketing, the number of warnings also decreased by 22 percent, from 10,803 to 8,386. This trend can be an indicator of increased public awareness regarding traffic order, demonstrating the police's preemptive and preventative actions.
During Operation Safety Progo 2026, the number of outreach activities increased by 5 percent to 28,754, while preventive activities, such as traffic control and patrols, increased by 4 percent to 21,872.
He also expressed his appreciation for the public's support for security, safety, order, and smooth traffic flow, and emphasized the importance of collective awareness to ensure Yogyakarta's roads remain safe for all road users.
