inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. People's Consultative Assembly (MPR) Chairman Ahmad Muzani said that there was an extraordinary historical moment that was carved by the founding fathers of Indonesia when they agreed on Pancasila as the foundation of the state.

"After Indonesia's independence, there was a debate among our founding fathers about what the ideology and foundation of the state would be. The debate gave rise to many ideas such as secularism, Islam and others," noted Muzani in Jakarta, Tuesday, when receiving a visit from teachers and hundreds of students from Taruna Nusantara Magelang High School, at the Nusantara V Building, Senayan Parliament Complex.

However, eventually, the founding fathers realized that Indonesia consists of various tribes, religions, races, languages and must have a unifier to resolve these differences, which then gave birth to Pancasila.

Muzani explained that the strength of Pancasila plays a role as a unifier of the nation, proven by the unity of Indonesia which has survived until now even though Indonesia has faced many problems and challenges but has not led to conflict, to the point of breaking up and disbanding as happened in other countries.

Muzani said that the founders of the nation were extraordinary in maintaining unity, this was also reflected in the joint agreement to adopt the Malay language which later developed into Indonesian as the national language.

"The sense of unity in diversity is what then gives rise to diversity. This kind of exemplary behavior must be absorbed, taken and imitated by the young generation of the nation," he said.

Previously, the representative of Taruna Nusantara High School students, Aditya Nugraha, expressed his gratitude for being well received at the MPR Building.

He said that this visit was very important for SMA Taruna Nusantara students to deepen their understanding of the MPR and the state in general.
