Papua Armed Criminal Group Stopped and Assault an Honest Civilian

Papua Mountains Sub-regional Police is investigating the shootings of Papua Armed Criminal Group to a member of Civil service police Unit on Jalan Poros SMA N 1 Oksibil, Yapimakot Village, Serambakon District, Papua Mountains, on Tuesday (9/19/2023). Papua Regional Police Public Relations Chief, Grand Commissioner Ignatius Benny Ady Prabowo reveals that the victim is Simon Petrus Sroyer (44). Benny states that Simon was shot while he was off to work. “When he was on Jalan Poros SMA N 1 Oksibil, he was suddenly stopped by a group of people from the Armed Criminal Group. Three of them came from where Simon is going to, while the other two came from the direction of Jalan Poros SMA N 1 Oksibil exit. The five individuals brought their rifles in hand and threatened Simon,” explained Benny in his written statement,” Tuesday (9/19/2023). According to Simon, he was asked by the group where is he going to and he said that he was going to work. Then out of nowhere, one of them mercilessly shot Simon. Although the distance was just 2 meters away, fortunately for Simon, the bullets only grazed his right ear. “With his reflects, he tried to avoid the assault, however it still hits his right ear,” says Benny. Simon then tried to leave, but he got chased by the group and was hit again by the bullet in his right waist. Although he suffers massive injury, Simon able to escape the death grip and took a safe haven in Bethel Indonesia Church (GBI) post. “Security officials who was on duty at GBI post responded his plea for help by evacuating him to Oksibil Hospital to receive medical aid. Moreover, security officials also secured his motorcycle and a white helm at GBI Post for evidence,” Benny said in his conclusion. He emphasized that the police force will conduct thorough investigation to uncover the perpetrators behind assaults on civilians in Papua Mountains. (ad/ay/pr/nm)
