Inp.polri.go.id - Jayapura. A joint military task force discovered four Cannabis plantations in Aldom village, Oksibil District, Bintang Mountains Regency, near the Papua–Papua New Guinea border.
The operation involved soldiers from Vira Jaya Sakti Infantry Battalion, Prayudha Task Force, and Ketapang Task Force.
“The cannabis fields were camouflaged with food crops such as cassava, mustard greens, and corn, making them difficult to detect by authorities or locals,” said Lieutenant Colonel Erwan Harliantoro, the Commander of the Vira Jaya Sakti Infantry Battalion, on Tuesday (23/9/2025), as reported by antaranews.com.
Troops seized 297 Cannabis plants averaging 1.5 meters in height. Authorities believe the farms had been cultivated for some time and were intended for large-scale distribution.
Commander Erwan said that the plants were destroyed on-site, while samples were handed over to law enforcement for further investigation.
