Inp.polri.go.id - Jayapura. Papua Regional Police Chief by Inspector General Mathius D. Fakhiri and Acting Secretary of South Papua Administration Madaremmeng, launched the "2024 Election Safari" on Tuesday (10/10/2023) to bolster cooperation among various stakeholders for the success of the 2024 elections.
"With strong synergy among all relevant parties, the 2024 elections in South Papua Province are expected to be well-organized, resulting in a fair and democratic electoral process," Acting Secretary of South Papua Province Madaremmeng while addressing the event, which was attended by more than 300 participants.
The South Papua administration has allocated grants of Rp. 2.5 billion and Rp. 1 billion to the local Election Organizing Committee and the Election Supervisory Board respectively, he said. It has also issued a circular letters that governs the neutrality of civil servants during the 2024 elections.
Papua Regional Police Chief Inspector General Mathius D. Fakhiri stressed the necessity of participation by all parties, including regents and election organizers, to ensure a safe and fair election process. He emphasized election neutrality and separating politics from the issue of Papuan independence.
Brigadier General Ahmad Fauzi, the Special Staff Officer of the Papua Military Command, highlighted the Indonesian Military's multifunctional roles and commitment to neutrality. The Indonesian Military has prepared troops and identified vulnerable points to secure during the election.
South Papua Province is a new province in Papua. The 2024 elections in South Papua are expected to engage over 367,000 voters, with Merauke Regency having the largest number at 162,000 registered voters.
