inp.polri.go.id – Jayapura. Papua Regional Police is ready to hold eleven regional operations with various codenames and targets in 2022. "It is true that there will be 11 operations in 2022 as part of National Police and Papua Regional Police programmes", Chief of Papua Regional Police, Police Inspector General Mathius D Fakhiri, said in Jayapura on Friday (24/12/2021). Chief of Regional Police explained that fewer operations will be held in 2022 than 2021. There were 13 Police operations held, including during the commencement of 20th National Sports Week and 16th National Paralympic Week. Chief of Regional Police said that, in principle, the operations would be the same, but the difference is that operations in 2022 would be targeted to the local community so they could feel the benefits. The operations held are such as Aman Nusa, Bina Kusuma, Ketupat, Amole, Lilin, and Zebra. "Papua Regional Police will prioritise Community Development Unit in many of its programmes so the impact could be felt by the community", the two-star general said. When asked about the security and order situation, the Chief of Regional Police admitted increased violence from the Armed Criminal Groups (KKB) in several regencies, mainly in the mountains regions. Besides, there are still demands from exodus students who asked for the referendum and independent Papua, and also the existence of West Papua National Committee and United Liberation Movement for West Papua.
