Inp.polri.go.id - Jayapura. Markus Nome, a prominent religious leader in Papua, has called on communities across the region to work together to uphold public security and order, emphasizing that peace is the cornerstone of Papua’s development and urged everyone to prioritize unity over division.
“Let’s maintain security together. It’s everyone’s responsibility to ensure Papua remains peaceful. Our differences should not divide us but strengthen our bond,” he said on Saturday (11/1/2025).
Markus encouraged people to avoid being swayed by divisive narratives and to use dialogue as a means to resolve conflicts.
He also appealed to youth, traditional leaders, and citizens to collaborate with security forces like the Indonesian Military (TNI) and the Indonesian National Police (INP) in maintaining order in their communities.
Markus urged the public to report suspicious activities to authorities instead of taking matters into their own hands. By fostering mutual respect, cooperation, and a sense of togetherness, he envisions a safer, more peaceful, and tolerant Papua.
