Inp.polri.go.id - Bandung.   Former House Speaker Setya Novanto has been granted parole from Sukamiskin Prison after the Supreme Court reduced his corruption sentence from 15 years to 12 years and 6 months.

“Yes, it is true that Setya Novanto was released yesterday. He was granted parole because his judicial review reduced the sentence from 15 years to 12.5 years,” said Kusnali, the Head of the West Java Regional Office of Corrections, on Sunday (17/8/2025) as quoted by antaranews.com.

Separately, Rika Aprianti, the Head of the Corrections Cooperation Sub-Directorate At the Directorate General of Immigration and Correction, explained that his parole met both legal and behavioral requirements. 

“He became a motivator and initiator, active in prison farming and plantation programs, and launched a legal clinic for inmates,” she said, saying that the clinic allows inmates to study legal issues under peer-to-peer guidance.

Setya must report until April 2029 under parole terms. His political rights remain revoked until five years after completing his full sentence in the multibillion-dollar electronic ID graft case.
