Inp.polri.go.id - Poso. The Central Sulawesi Regional Police distributed food aid packages on Sunday (17/8/2025) to residents affected by a 6.0-magnitude earthquake that struck Poso District earlier in the day.
“Police are present not only as guardians of security but also as friends of the people in times of joy and sorrow,” said Senior Superintendent Djoko Wienartono, the Central Sulawesi Police Head of Public Relations, in Palu, as quoted by antaranews.com
Before distributing aid, Poso Police Chief Superintendent Alowisius Londar and Poso Police Operations Chief Assistant Senior Inspector Sudji Hartono inspected the damaged Elim Church in Masani Village to assess the quake’s impact on public facilities and housing.
Following the visit, dozens of relief packages were handed over symbolically to local residents.
Authorities stressed that humanitarian action will continue alongside security duties to ensure communities do not feel abandoned.
The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) reported at least 10 aftershocks following the early morning quake.
