Inp.polri.go.id - Surabaya. The Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant Association (PHRI) has filed a report to the Indonesian National Police Criminal Investigation Agency’s Unit of Cyber Crime for the hacking of Google Business accounts affecting several hotels across Indonesia on Sunday. 

"This hacking was not limited to Surabaya but also affected major cities such as Jakarta, Semarang, Denpasar, and Makassar," said Puguh Sugeng Sutrisno, the Head of PHRI Surabaya, on Monday (12/8/2024).

In response, PHRI Chairman Hariyadi Sukamdani has reported the issue to the police. 

The hackers reportedly replaced hotel WhatsApp numbers with local numbers and even changed bank account details linked to some hotels.

"We suspect this may have been done by someone local because the altered numbers redirected to local contacts, and bank account details were changed to private accounts in Eastern Indonesia," said Puguh, as quoted by antaranews.com.
