Inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. State electricity company PT PLN (Persero) confirmed on Sunday (24/5/2026) that the power system across Sumatra has been fully restored following a blackout on Friday.
“The Sumatra power system is now back to normal,” said PLN President Director Darmawan Prasodjo in a statement published by antaranews.com.
By Sunday morning, PLN had reactivated 176 substations and gradually restored electricity to affected customers. The recovery process involved reconnecting transmission lines, restarting power plants, and synchronizing supply to the grid.
Darmawan said that safety and reliability were prioritized during the restoration and expressed gratitude to the public for their patience. The blackout was initially triggered by a transmission disruption on the Muara Bungo and Sungai Rumbai line due to extreme weather.
