inp.polri.go.id - Ogan Hilir. The Aman Nusa II Forest and Land Fire Task Force conducted mitigation, hotspot inspections, and extinguished forest and land fires in Ibul Besar I Village, Pemulutan District, Ogan Ilir Regency, Wednesday (9/9/2026).
Extinguishing efforts began around 4:00 PM after officers detected a fire. The burned area is estimated to cover approximately 7 hectares, with approximately 3 hectares successfully extinguished.
Strong winds were a major obstacle, contributing to the fire's rapid spread.
Despite these conditions, the joint team continued extinguishing the fire until the operation concluded at around 10:30 PM. By the time the operation concluded, the fire was reportedly extinguished, leaving only white smoke. The exact source of the fire remains unknown.
The Head of Operations for Aman Nusa II, Senior Superintendent Ridwan Raja Dewa, emphasized that personnel preparedness in the field and cross-agency coordination are key to addressing the threat of forest and land fires quickly and measurably.
"We continue to optimize the deployment of personnel and infrastructure, especially in vulnerable areas like Ogan Ilir, to ensure that hotspots can be quickly controlled before they spread and cause a greater impact on the community," he emphasized.
The Head of Public Relations of the South Sumatra Regional Police, Senior Superintendent Nandang Mu'min Wijaya, added that the institution's commitment to protecting the community and preserving the environment from the threat of forest and land fires.
"We are ensuring that all forest and land fire operations are running optimally to provide a sense of security to the community," he added.
