inp.polri.go.id - Jambi. The Jambi Regional Police continue to strengthen law enforcement efforts against fuel misuse and illegal petroleum activities in the province.
In a two-week period, from August 27 to September 10, 2026, police successfully uncovered and prosecuted six cases, naming eight individuals as suspects. As a result of these actions, police also secured 22,800 liters of oil and fuel, as well as six vehicles suspected of being used to transport evidence.
The Head of Public Relations of the Jambi Regional Police, Senior Superintendent Erlan Munaji, explained that these actions demonstrate the police's commitment to eradicating all forms of fuel misuse and illegal petroleum activities.
"We have successfully handled or prosecuted six cases, with eight suspects, six vehicles, and approximately 22,800 liters of petroleum, refined gasoline, and diesel fuel as evidence," explained the Head of Public Relations of the Jambi Regional Police.
The eight suspects arrested were identified as AP (25), SP (37), IA (19), RU (34), MAR (26), FN (20), IHS (31), and S (36).
The action was carried out in several locations, including Sungai Bahar, Jaluko, Alam Barajo, Jambi City, and Mestong.
From the arrests, police seized 10,000 liters of crude oil suspected to have originated from illegal drilling activities. The evidence was transported in a Mitsubishi Canter.
In addition, 3,000 liters of crude oil from suspected illegal drilling were seized from a Mitsubishi L300.
Police also seized approximately 2,000 liters of refined gasoline transported in a Wuling Confero and were suspected of lacking the required documentation.
Meanwhile, 1,190 liters of diesel fuel were seized in 34 35-liter plastic jerry cans. The diesel fuel was allegedly intended to be resold to other parties.
Police also seized 5,600 liters of crude oil being transported in two Suzuki Carry cars. Each of them was carrying two tedemon trucks and four plastic drums.
The Head of Public Relations of the Jambi Regional Police, Senior Commissioner Erlan Munaji, S.I.K., M.Si., emphasized that the suspects will be prosecuted in accordance with the actions and criminal provisions violated.
The suspects are charged under Article 52 of Law Number 22 of 2001 concerning Oil and Gas, as amended by Article 40 point 7 of Law Number 6 of 2023, regarding exploration and/or exploitation activities without a business permit or cooperation contract.
