Inp.polri.go.id – East Aceh. Police arrest a man initialed KW (27) who allegedly smuggled Rohingya immigrants in East Aceh Regency, while listing other two suspects in the wanted list. East Aceh Police Chief, Police Grand Commissioner Adjutant Andy Rahmansyah reveals that KW from Darul Aman acts as the truck driver in smuggling the immigrant, while the other two, L and I, are still on pursuit. Furthermore, it was known that L is the Village Chief of Beunot Village who ordered KW to pick up the Rohingya immigrants. On the other hand, I is state civil apparatus who was ordered by L to point out the pick-up location to KW. KW was then arrested in Ule Ateng Village, Madat Regency, while he was driving the truck with 36 immigrants inside. “Madat police members had to chase the truck, and finally after being intercepted, KW admits that he was paid IDR 3 million from L,” Andy explains. The suspect was charged with Article 120 paragraph 1 and (2) of immigration law number 6 of 2011 concerning immigration, and/or Article 2 paragraph (1) in conjunction with Article 6 in conjunction with Article 10 of Law Number 21 of 2007 concerning the Eradication of the Crime of Human Trafficking. “With the least imprisonment of three years and maximum of 15 years,” he concluded.
