Inp.polri.go.id – Purwakarta. A man with the initials of MT (28) from Bogor was arrested for stealing the money from his place of work due to his addiction in gambling and forex trading. The man was the head sales cashier of Indomarco Prismatama Inc. supermarket, located at Industrial area of Bukit Indah City Sector N, Dangdeur, Purwakarta. In his written statement, Purwakarta Sub-regional Police Chief, Police Grand Commissioner Adjutant Edwar Zulkarnain confirmed that MT was arrested for stealing the money of IDR 2.5 billion from his place of work. "The suspect was arrested after we received a report from his company. Purwakarta Criminal Investigation Unit later found that the suspect steals the money from his place of work repeatedly without the knowledge of the company," explained Zulkarnain quoted from jurnalpolri.com on Wednesday (9/20/2023). His method in committing his crime was by throwing the money to an unused box which he threw outside. Later on, he would acquire the box when he finished his work hours. "He has committed the crime since April 2022 to September 2023, which is more than a year. For a day, he could acquire IDR 10 million even to IDR 200 million," adds Zulkarnain. According to the suspect, he has used all the money for online gambling and forex trading. "Suspect was arrested in his workplace, a supermarket of Indomarco Prismatama Inc., which located at Industrial area of Bukit Indah City, Dangdeur, Purwakarta, on September 2nd, 2023," Zulkarnain adds. His criminal actions was found out after an audit, in which was found that there was an error in bank mutation and their supermarket money report. His actions was also recorded in CCTV. "For his actions, the company suffered financial loss of IDR 2,553,131,301," said Purwakarta Deputy Police Chief, Commissioner Ahmad Mega Rahman. Currently, MT has been secured in Purwakarta Police HQ for further examination. (ad/ek/pr/nm)
