Inp.polri.go.id – South Kalimantan. The South Kalimantan Regional Police Drug Investigation Directorate arrested four drug smugglers along with the evidence of 4.8 kilograms of meth from Malaysia. “The meth was smuggled to Sumatra and then was about to be transported to Banjarmasin in various ways,” says the Director of the Drug Criminal Investigation Directorate, Senior Superintendent Kelana Jaya on Tuesday (4/2/2024). Kelana says that there are a total of four suspects apprehended by the officials, they are AR (31) and KH (34) who were arrested by the police with the evidence of 2,185 grams meth. Then there is MH, 30, who was arrested along with the two packages of meth disguised as chinese tea with a weight of 2,080 grams,. And lastly AD, 29, who was arrested after trying to smuggle 14 packages of 602.35 grams meth. Kelana notes that there are interesting part of this case, in which the 2,185 grams of meth were smuggled by the suspect from North Sumatra by air. “The meth was packaged into a food package and was stored in the plane's trunk,” said Kelana. Kelana admits that smuggling the meth by airplane is brave and bold as airports have the equipment to easily detect and track the illicit goods. (ad/pt/pr/nm)
