Police Arrest Man for Spreading Video Claiming to be "Prophet"

Inp.polri.go.id - Medan.  The Tebing Tinggi Sub-regional Police have arrested JK (35) for allegedly spreading a video claiming to be a "prophet" in Tebing Tinggi, Serdang Bedagai Regency, North Sumatra. Tebing Tinggi Police Chief Superintendent Andreas Tampubolon explained on Wednesday (20/3/2024) that he  is charged under  Law Number 1 of 2024 on electronic transaction information for allegedly disseminating content containing elements of ethnicity, religion, race, and social groups, largely known as SARA. JK has uploaded a 1 minute 30 seconds video to his social media account under the name Nabi Jannes (Prophet Jannes), purportedly filmed at the Penonggol Golf Course in Penonggol Village in Serdang Bedagai Regency, as reported by antaranews.com In the video, JK read from a paper containing SARA-related content, prompting negative comments and condemnation from netizens and causing public unrest. Responding to public concern, the police arrested and questioned him to find out the motive behind his actions. (mg/inp/pr/nm)
