Inp.polri.go.id - Makassar. The Immigration Detention House in Makassar, South Sulawesi, has detained EM (34), a Ghanaian man who plays in a local football league known as "tarkam," due to a lack of residency permit. Atang Kuswana, the Head of the Immigration Detention House in Makassar, revealed that EM was initially detained by the West Jakarta Immigration Office. "The Ghanaian footballer was subsequently transferred here for further processing," Atang explained, as reported by antaranews.com. EM was detained by West Jakarta Immigration officers after failing to produce the necessary documents supporting his stay in Indonesia. EM, renowned for his football career in East Timor, confessed to visiting Jakarta for leisure after the football league in East Timor concluded. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent job loss, he could not renew his visa, leading to his current situation. Currently, the Ghanaian footballer remains detained at Makassar Immigration Detention House pending deportation proceedings. (mg/inp/pr/nm)
