inp.polri.go.id - Jakarta. Police arrested George Sugama Halim, who is the child of a bakery shop owner in East Jakarta. He was arrested after assaulting his father’s bakery shop employee named Dwi.
“We arrested the man at 00.00 WIB, this late midnight,” said the Head of Public Relations of Metro Jaya Regional Police, Senior Superintendent Ade Ary Syam Indradi.
Ade adds that the arrest was carried by the Criminal Investigation Unit of East Jakarta Sub-regional Police. During the arrest, George was accompanied by a man.
George was arrested at the Anugerah Hotel, Sukabumi, West Java. He was running away to Sukabumi after the video of the abuse went viral on social media.
Previously, the video of George abusing his father’s bakery shop employee Dwi, has gone viral.
Dwi admitted that the abuse had happened repeatedly until she decided to report it to the police. Instead of being afraid, George confidently said to Dwi that the police couldn’t arrest him.
The incident finally culminated on Thursday (17/10/2024), when George asked Dwi to deliver the bread to his mother. However, Dwi refused as she was working and it was not part of her job-desc.
George then went on a rampage and committed assault. Dwi was thrown using several objects including stone statues, chairs, tables, and bank machines until the victim's head was busted.
Dwi then reported the abuse incident to the authorities on Friday, October 18th, 2024. After almost two months, the police finally arrested George in Sukabumi, West Java.
“The joint unit of 1 and 2 Violent Crimes Sub-directorate of Metro Jaya Regional Police, along with the East Jakarta Sub-regional Police Criminal Investigation Unit had arrested the man,” says the Director of Metro Jaya Regional Police General Criminal Investigation Director, Senior Superintendent Wira Satya Triputra.
As of now, the suspect has been moved to East Jakarta Sub-regional Police for further investigation.
He said the suspect was charged with Article 351 of the Criminal Code with a threat of five years in prison.
