The Central Jakarta Sub-regional Metro Police Chief, Senior Superintendent Susatyo Purnomo Condro states two of the 16 escaped inmates have been secured. “Currently we are pursuing the other 14 escapees of Tanah Abang Sectoral Police prison cell,” said Tanah Abang Sectoral Police Chief on Monday (2/19/2024). He explains that the inmates escaped at 02.40 am. Initially the police chief received reports from the locals that there were a group of unknown people running around the block. Police were then instructed to check on the prison cell and found there was an opened ventilation in one of the cells. When they go to the back of the cell, they found a tied prayer rugs from the ventilation, allegedly used by the inmates to go down the building. In pursuing the escapees, police have formed a special team to find the other 14 left escapees. Moreover, the investigation team also deployed to investigate the criminal location. “We implore citizens who knew their whereabouts to immediately inform us the police,” he said. (ad/inp/pr/nm)
