inp.polri.go.id - Palembang. The South Sumatra Regional Police implemented tight security during the working visit of the Vice President of Indonesia, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, to Palembang today. 

High-level VVIP security was in place, but the South Sumatra Regional Police ensured that all security measures on the ground were designed to avoid disruption of the public's daily routines and activities.

The South Sumatra Regional Police Chief, Inspector General Sandi Nugroho, personally ensured the Vice President's activities, from Siti Fatimah Regional Hospital, the Musi V Bridge, to the Palembang City PSEL (Electricity Center for the Environment). 

On the occasion, he emphasized his institution's commitment to maintaining a balance between VVIP security and public comfort. Regarding the technical implementation, the Head of Operations of the South Sumatra Regional Police, Senior Superintendent Anis Prasetio, stated that the South Sumatra Regional Police are deploying their full strength to ensure the security of this state event.

"We have deployed 1,009 joint personnel divided into various task forces. These include security, preemptive, preventive, law enforcement, security, safety, order, and traffic task forces. They work together to ensure the public order and security situation in Bumi Sriwijaya remains very conducive during the visit," said Anis, Thursday (7/16/2026).

He further emphasized that this security pattern was deliberately designed to be measured and dynamic. 

"Our security principle is to ensure the safety of VVIPs, while maintaining economic and public routines to continue running. There will be no road closures or diversions. Officers on the ground will help manage traffic congestion so that the public doesn't feel isolated or have their activities disrupted," he concluded.
