inp.polri.go.id - Palu City. The role of Community Police Officers (Bhabinkamtibmas) in Central Sulawesi is no longer limited to maintaining public order and security. Police officers assigned to villages are also encouraged to play a role in strengthening food security.
To support this role, the Central Sulawesi Regional Police are providing training to Bhabinkamtibmas personnel, covering public communication skills, religious moderation literacy, and basic agricultural knowledge.
The Director of Community Development at the Central Sulawesi Regional Police, Senior Superintendent Sirajudin Ramly, stated that these skills are crucial for police officers to carry out their duties more broadly and provide tangible benefits to the community.
"Police today must be multi-talented, including being able to provide assistance to the community regarding strategic national programs, one of which is strengthening regional food security," said Sirajuddin in Palu on Saturday (9/26/2026).
In this training, the Central Sulawesi Regional Police collaborated with the Department of Agriculture to provide personnel with an understanding of several agricultural techniques. The topics covered included corn and onion cultivation, as well as monitoring the distribution of staple food commodities.
Despite their agricultural knowledge, Bhabinkamtibmas personnel are not tasked with replacing farmers. They are directed to act as liaisons, mentors, and supervisors to ensure the successful implementation of food security programs in their assisted villages.
"Of course, our members aren't the ones planting, but rather communicating, supervising, and empowering farmers in their respective assisted villages," he said.
Sirajudin believes the active involvement of Bhabinkamtibmas is crucial for increasing public understanding of food security. The close relationship between the police and residents is considered a crucial asset for overseeing various government programs down to the village level.
Through regular and comprehensive training, Bhabinkamtibmas personnel are expected to become responsive problem solvers and provide solutions tailored to the needs of the community within the jurisdiction of the Central Sulawesi Regional Police.
