inp.polri.go.id - Bengkulu. The Sub-Directorate of Certain Crimes (Tipidter) of the Bengkulu Regional Police Criminal Investigation Directorate has successfully thwarted an attempt to adulterate subsidized fuel (BBM) of Pertalite from processed raw materials.

Bengkulu Regional Police Public Relations Chief, Senior Superintendent Andy Pramudya Wardana says the perpetrator, with the initials BS, is a resident of Talang Rimbo Lama, Rejang Lebong. 

He adulterated the fuel in the Rejang Lebong area, Bengkulu Province, by utilizing the availability of crude oil supplied from outside Bengkulu province and then processed it using dyes to resemble subsidized fuel of Pertalite.

"BS mixed Pertalite fuel with refined oil/crude oil obtained from Musi Rawas, South Sumatra province, added coloring agents and resold it to the public," said Andy on Tuesday, (9/23/2025).

Meanwhile, Head of the Certain Crimes Sub-Directorate, Police Assistant Superintendent Mirza Gunawan, revealed that BS had been doing the practice for a long time. The raw materials obtained were quite large when found with a capacity of over 2 tons.

"We secured tow cars, then two 1000 liter capacity tedmons containing crude oil, then dozens of jerry cans containing mixed Pertalite, as well as cans of industrial coloring," said Mirza Gunawan.

For his actions, suspect BS was charged under Article 54 of Law No. 22 of 2001 concerning oil and gas, as amended by Law No. 2 of 2022 concerning job creation, which carries a maximum sentence of six years in prison and a maximum fine of Rp. 60 billion.
