Inp.polri.go.id - Padang.  The Padang City Sub-regional Police in West Sumatra has mobilized 200 personnel from various units to aid in the evacuation of flood victims following severe flooding in the city since Thursday afternoon (7/3/3024).
"We have deployed personnel to assist in the evacuation of flood victims," said Padang Police Chief Senior Superintendent Ferry Harahap. To facilitate the evacuation efforts, authorities have deployed rubber boats, life jackets, and other necessary equipment. As per the latest reports, there have been no casualties reported due to the hydro-meteorological disaster, as reported by antaranews.com "In addition, the Mobile Brigade has dispatched a search and rescue  team to assist in the evacuation of residents," Chief Ferry added. The joint team has been focusing on evacuating several severely affected areas, including Dadok Tunggul Hitam in the Koto Tangah district, among others. Meanwhile, Padang Vice Mayor Ekos Albar said that the local administration has been assessing various flood-affected areas, including Banuaran in the Lubek Begalung district and Koto Tangah. "As of now, the Padang City Government, along with relevant authorities, is effectively managing and addressing the flood situation," he said. Given the ongoing heavy rainfall, Vice Mayor Ekos urged residents to remain vigilant and avoid panic. He encouraged those in need of evacuation assistance to report to the Padang Command Center at 112 or seek help from their local community leaders. He urged law enforcement agencies to remain vigilant against individuals who might take advantage of the disaster situation to commit criminal acts, such as theft. The heavy rainfall in Padang since Thursday afternoon has resulted in several fallen trees, including along Jalan Raya Padang-Painan. Landslides have also obstructed road access in Lubuk Paraku, though the roads are now passable. (mg/inp/pr/nm)
